Installed: Sept 2007

Water Saving Per Week: 2,500 litres

Based on Participant Six’s mains water use on the garden before and after the installation of her greywater system, Participant Six reduced her weekly outdoor water consumption by 2500 litres.

She used to water for three hours a week with a mains water hose (estimated to use 1000 litres of water per hour based on normal mains pressure for a garden hose).

She now only mains waters her garden for half an hour per week, saving 2500 litres of water (just on the pot plants where the greywater irrigation is not installed).

Participant Six’s garden is mostly Australian natives, yet the plants are thriving on the slow drip-fed greywater! These photos were taken five months after installation.

“I have noticed much less water usage. It is a very easy way to water my garden, and I have a very happy garden.”
