Greywater Gardener 230

After ten years of research, development and piloting across various sites, over all soil types, Waterwise Systems® released the Greywater Gardener 230™ for purchase in 2002-03.

This innovative domestic greywater diversion system is a completely automatic system that diverts household greywater, from the washing machine and/or shower, and waters every plant in urban gardens. The greywater is distributed straight onto the garden through a gravity powered, sub-surface, drip-feed irrigation system. The greywater does not need to be treated because it is being used straight away. This type of greywater reuse is appropriate for garden irrigation because it is directed immediately into the soil 100mm below the surface.

Concerns that Waterwise Systems® had identified with bucketing greywater, the direct diversion from the washing machine distributed above ground, and complicated, high maintenance treatment systems, prompted the company to look into more safe, simple, sustainable methods of reusing greywater on the garden during the decade long research and development process.

Subsequently, the design and creation of the Greywater Gardener 230™ addressed all perceived risks associated with untreated greywater use, making the Greywater Gardener 230™ a safe, sustainable and low maintenance choice for urban gardeners.

From a water efficiency perspective, due to its unique drip-feed irrigation system, the installation of the Greywater Gardener 230™ in Australian households has been proven to reduce unsustainable outdoor water use by between 80-100%, and total household water consumption by between 25-50%, whilst expending no additional energy (indeed the Greywater Gardener 230™ has reduced total household water use by as much as 64%!).
